Jonathan Taylor Thomas starred as the son of Tim Allen’s character on the hit show Home Improvement for eight seasons, following a successful career as a model and commercial actor. In the 1990s, the teen heartthrob voiced young Simba in Disney’s The Lion King and appeared in a number of films (WILD AMERICA, Tom and Huck, Man of the House, and the dreadful The Adventures of Pinocchio – which got the Awfully Good treatment here) before going back to school… but he never really returned.
That’s strange considering Taylor Thomas was all over the place when I was a kid in the 1990s. His films made him a teen idol, and he appeared to be on the verge of becoming a full-fledged teen idol after I’ll Be Home For Christmas (in which he starred with a young Jessica Biel), only to leave the industry for a Harvard education.
While he briefly reconnected with his TV father Tim Allen on the sitcom Last Man Standing, true JTT sightings have become nearly as unusual as spotting Bigfoot in recent years. He doesn’t use social media, doesn’t want popularity, and appears to be completely pleased with his quiet existence. So join us as we investigate some of the tales surrounding his disappearance and come to the conclusion that, hey, if the guy wants to take a break, he should! It’s a fascinating narrative, as well as a fantastic episode of WTF Happened to This Celebrity, which may surprise you. So take your toolkit and figure out “WTF Happened to Jonathan Taylor Thomas!”
