The fifth season of Street Fighter V kicks off this week with two new characters: Oro from Street Fighter III and Akira Kazama from Capcom’s long-dormant Rival Schools series. Both are currently available, either independently or as part of the current season pass.
Many of Oro’s attacks from Street Fighter III are present, and he appears to be as dangerous as ever. He can double jump and has a variety of tricks under his sleeve, including projectiles and levitating Tengu Stones, despite his ancient age. Oro has powerful kick specialties and V Trigger-enabled throws up close.
Akira takes her fighting style from Rival Schools with her, as well as combination options not available to Street Fighter characters. She’s a close-quarters brawler with V Skills that boost her stationary fireball and another V Skill that launches opponents into the air for massive aerial combos. Akira may also dump her brother Diago onto her opponents and use his passionate fighting spirit to inflict damage on them.
Both characters can be purchased for $5.99 each or 100,000 Fight Money, the game’s in-game money. You can get the whole Season Five bundle for $29.99, which includes former characters Dan and Rose as well as newcomer Luke when he debuts in November. This week also sees the release of the new stage “Rival Riverside” which may be downloaded.
