Shazam!, “the world’s mightiest mortal,” was introduced to casual comic book movie fans in 2019 by Warner Bros. and New Line Films. Billy Batson (Asher Angel) was bestowed with great powers from seven ancient deities by the wizard Shazam (Djimon Hounsou). When Billy yells “Shazam!” now, he transforms into his older self, as played by Zachary Levi. And, unlike Black Adam, Shazam’s previous champion, Billy realised that his power wasn’t meant for just one person. It was meant to be shared with others.

Billy’s foster brothers and sisters gained the power of Shazam and received older selves during the previous film’s climactic battle. That solidified their bond as a family while also forming a formidable team of heroes. At DC FanDome, however, the sizzle reel for the sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, revealed the villains who will be able to stand up to Billy’s newfound super family.

Shazam’s inexhaustible stamina and endurance are derived from Atlas, the legendary Titan. That could be why Atlas’ daughters, Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu), are after the Shazams. Keep in mind that Hespera and Kalypso are goddesses in their own right. The kids may be superheroes, but they lack the necessary abilities.

Rachel Zegler also appears in the film as one of Atlas’ daughters, but it’s unclear whether she will support her sisters or oppose them and aid the Shazam family in their fight. The film’s sizzle reel also showcased some of the film’s locations, including stops in Athens and even Mount Olympus. There are also some monsters that look very familiar.

The cast of Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Mary Bromfield, played by Grace Fulton, is unique among Billy’s foster siblings in that she also portrays her adult incarnation. That could be because, unlike her brothers and sister, Mary is now an adult. Frederick “Freddy” Freeman, played by Jack Dylan Grazer, is also back, with Adam Brody portraying his older self.

Faithe Herman will reprise her role as Darla Dudley, with Meagan Good as the older Darla; alongside Ian Chen as Eugene Choi and Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña. Ross Butler and D. J. Cotrona portray the adult versions of Eugene and Jovan, respectively. David F. Sandberg returned to direct Shazam! Fury of the Gods, from a script by Henry Gayden. It will hit theaters on June 2, 2023.
