Yellowstone, Season 4, Kevin Costner, Paramount+

Whoa, Nelly! It sounds as if Paramount’s Yellowstone will be tugging the reins on its Season 4 summer premiere. Word around the old homestead is that the Dutton clan won’t return for more denim-clad drama until November.

For the first three seasons, Yellowstone was top-tier summer television programming chock full of criminals, cowboys, profanity, murder, and lots of mild nudity. Thanks to COVID-19, it sounds like the premiere of season four will debut in the fall, with a cast featuring additions like Jacki Weaver, Piper Perabo, Kathryn Kelly, and Finn Little. For those of you awaiting answers to the show’s Season 3 cliffhanger, be sure to hold onto your hats, because answers are sure to be making their way over the horizon.

If November seems like a long wait, Paramount+ added some extra news to tide you over. Not only will there be a marathon of the first three seasons airing on July 4th (hey, that’s this weekend!) but the prequel series, Y: 1883, will begin production this August. The Yellowstone brand, created by Oscar-nominee Taylor Sheridan, also has a contemporary spin-off titled 6666 in development as well.

According to Deadline, Jackie Weaver will play Caroline Warner, the CEO of Market Equities that is trying to crush the hold that John Dutton (Kevin Costner) has on his sprawling Montana ranch. As for Perabo, she’ll play a protester from Portland who is against the state-funded police force that protects industrialized farming and the killing of animals. Kathryn Kelly is slated to play a vet who strikes up a relationship with a Dutton ranch cowboy. while Finn Little will star as Carter, a youth reminiscent of a young Rip (Cole Hauser) whom the Duttons gave a home. Weaver, Perabo, and Kelly’s roles will be recurring, while Little is contracted to be a series regular. By that same token, Will Patton, who plays Jamie Dutton’s biological father Garrett Randle, is also being bumped up to a series regular.

As a Yellowstone fan, how do you feel about holding your horses until November for the show’s Season 4 premiere? Let us know in the comments section below.
