At the recent PlayStation Showcase, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was one of several major upcoming PlayStation exclusives that made a splash. With a mysterious voice in the background and a reveal of Venom at the end, the trailer showed Peter and Miles taking on foes together. The trailer looked great visually, and it was confirmed that none of what we saw was CG.
Bryanna Lindsey, the lead VFX artist for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, recently confirmed on Twitter that the recent announcement trailer was running in real-time in-engine on a PS5. Given Insomniac’s achievements in even a cross-gen game like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it’s exciting to imagine what they’ll accomplish in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is rumoured to be a PS5 exclusive. Of course, Insomniac also made Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which is probably one of the best-looking games out there right now, so we have high hopes for their future projects.
In 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released for the PlayStation 5. The actor who will play Venom, Tony Todd, has been confirmed, and he says the sequel will be “massive.”
The team did a killer job. Real time VFX are difficult but I’m so proud of our whole team for pushing our quality bar. ❤️ https://t.co/9I7rgFv8f6
