THE QUIET PLACE: Last month’s PART II eventually was released to over $200 million worldwide and has cemented the faith of Paramount in the horror franchise of John Krasinski to this day. While I have little doubt about the future of A Quiet Place: Part III, Krasinski is not the next installment, but Jeff Nichols, a writer/director (Midnight Special).

The story behind the new project was John Krasinski and talked with Empire recently about the movie and why he chose Jeff Nichols to write and direct.

I came up with the idea. The story of the third one, the third installment, is something I came up with. Truly the only person I had in mind when asked whether I would hand this off was Jeff. I think he’s one of the best filmmakers, Mud is one of my favourite movies, and so real and intimate. It’s exactly the sort of paints we’re painting with in A Quiet Place – very organic characters you fall in love with. So he was my first choice for this, and when he said yes I was over the moon. I pitched him my story, he’s gone and developed the world on his own with that jumping-off point, and I’m so thrilled. He’s actually just turning in a script now, and I loved it. I absolutely loved it, and I can’t wait to see him shoot this thing.

It is unknown whether the film of Jeff Nichols will continue the history of the Abbott family, and obviously, John Krasinski wouldn’t blow the beans to remark that he’s really thrilled about the project “since it’s something we’ll do previously.” Despite the early phases of the development of a quiet spin-off, Paramount has already set the schedule for its release on March 31, 2023.
