The superhero passion project of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and director Jaume Collet-Serra is still a ways off, but DC Fandom gave fans a sneak peek at the upcoming film, including a clip of Black Adam’s electrifying introduction.

Pierce Brosnan, who plays Dr. Fate in the upcoming blockbuster, kicks off the segment with a bold statement: “It’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like it. Nothing compares to doing James Bond for ten years and four films.” “more brutal, uncompromising, fueled by the depths of his pain,” says Hawkman actor Aldis Hodge of Black Adam. We may be in for a ruthless Black Adam portrayal, based on the clip we see introducing Johnson’s title character in the film.

Black Adam has entered the post-production phase, according to Johnson, and is set to hit theatres on July 29, 2022. In the video above, you can see some concept art as well as a short scene from the movie. After discovering a levitating crown, the new footage shows a woman reading an ancient text carved on the stone floor. The scripts glow when the word “Shazam” is spoken aloud, and a bolt of lightning shatters the darkness in the ruins. From the spot where the bolt struck, a hooded Black Adam emerges. He seizes a soldier and electrocutes him, frying him to death. As a volley of futile bullets bounces harmlessly off of Adam’s pitch-black suit, he floats into the air.

Check out the rest of the DC Fandom trailers and reveals, including a new look at the HBO Max series Peacemaker, The Batman’s newest trailer, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and Gotham Knights footage. Are you getting a whiff of what The Rock has planned for his take on Black Adam? Will the film live up to Pierce Brosnan’s high-octane praise?
