Remember the first time you looked in the mirror as Sam in Death Stranding while wearing the Ludens mask? Remember how cool you were (we’ve all been there). Thanks to a collaboration between Death Stranding director Hideo Kojima and French glasses designer Jean-François Rey, you can now be that cool.
According to Video Games Chronicle, the two have collaborated to create a unique line of glasses, one of which is inspired by the Ludens mask from Death Stranding. Kojima remained mum about the collaboration, opting to simply post photos of the glasses on Instagram with no captions, but it’s clear that the game director was involved in some way.
The Kojima collaboration is now officially available for pre-order on the glasses designer’s website under the “Capsule Collection” umbrella. Pre-ordered glasses will be delivered by the end of March 2022 to those who order now.
“New collaboration between Jean-François Rey and the famous video game designer Hideo Kojima,” the website reads. “Four original models with surprising designs, inspired by [the] Death Stranding futuristic universe. Under the artistic direction of Hideo Kojima, we have designed the Ludens mask, the hybrid SLS 3D, and metal Bridges frames worn by Sam Porter Bridges.”
Two standard lenses and two transforming sunglass shades appear to be placed in front of the glass lenses or pushed outwardly to sit beside each glass lens are included in the HKxJF01 glasses.
The HKxJF02 glasses are the most traditional-looking of the bunch, and they’re available in black, blue, and army camouflage.
The Ludens Mask + HKxJF03 combination is the collaboration’s third and final pair of glasses.
“Our design studios modeled the Ludens mask, which will be produced using SLS technic,” the website says. “It has adjustable nose pads and rimlocks for prescription or sunglasses lenses. Ludens maks is a limited-edition collector’s item. It’s packaged in high-end packaging with the Hideo Kojima production house logo.”
The glasses’ prices aren’t listed, and preordering them requires calling the listed phone number or sending an email to the listed email address. When the glasses are released in March 2022, you can deliver packages in style if you preorder.
