There are many potential paths for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take, but its Celestial overseers are interested in one direction in particular: Harry Styles.

[Ed. note: This post contains potential spoilers for upcoming Marvel movies]

The pop star and actor, according to reports from the Eternals premiere on Monday night, appears in one of the film’s after-credits scenes. It’s his second major role, following Dunkirk (in which he co-starred with Eternals actor Barry Keoghan) and coming just before Olivia Wilde’s thriller Don’t Worry Darling next year.

Eros, an Eternal and Thanos’ brother, will be played by Styles. Eros, like his brother, was born on Titan and is a being of immense strength, but with the added ability to manipulate the emotions of others, as created by Jim Starlin and Mike Friedrich in 1973. He doesn’t always use his power for the greater good — as his name suggests, Eros is deeply invested in being a horndog, sometimes to an alarming degree.

Other times, however — usually when his evil brother is involved — Eros acts as a cosmic superhero, adopting the codename Starfox (no relation) and flying off to battle.

There are currently no details on when Styles’ version of Eros will make his first proper appearance, as his appearance in Eternals is said to be limited to a post-credits scene. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is an educated guess, but anything is possible with the intensely secretive studio.Eternals premieres in theaters on Nov. 5, 2021.
