Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto III, along with Vice City and San Andreas, will be re-released on modern consoles and PC in a special collection to commemorate the game’s 20th anniversary.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, a previously rumoured collection, includes a slew of graphical and gameplay enhancements to the three games that cemented GTA’s status as a household name. Rockstar hasn’t revealed what those specific improvements are, but says more information will be revealed in the coming weeks. Despite the enhancements, Rockstar claims that the games retain their classic look and feel.
Later this year, the Rockstar Games Launcher will bring the Definitive Edition to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. It will also be available on iOS and Android in the first half of 2022.
Rockstar has also announced that existing versions of each game will be removed from digital stores next week to make room for the collection.
