If you’ve been a long-time Pokemon fan and want to play Pokemon Unite, you’ll have to forget about most of your previous knowledge of the game’s mechanics. Because, unlike the majority of the franchise’s games, a lot of things don’t apply here. This is, after all, a MOBA. Here are a few pointers to remember in this regard.

Take Advantage of Free Licenses

It’s alluring to spend money on Aeos Gems. You should, to be fair. Because, while the game isn’t pay-to-win, it is pay-to-boost, which means you’ll eventually get to a point where everyone is faster than the rest of the players. When it comes to purchasing licenses with Aeos Gems, however, caution is advised.

The game will give you nearly half of the roster for free without you even realizing it. You’ll get a starter for no coins or gems, as is customary with Pokemon. Also, if you’re reading this in anticipation of the game and haven’t created an account yet, now is the time to do so, because you’ll receive a free Zeraora license. You have until August 31 to get it, though it is preferable to do so now.

Then there are the other options for obtaining licenses. Slowbro is level 2 and Venusaur is level 5, while Alolan Ninetales, Cinderace, and Greninja are unlocked after two, eight, and fourteen days of play, respectively.

Finally, Crustle is unlocked after completing the seven beginner missions. You can unlock an additional six licenses by being patient and getting there early. In the case of the rest, purchasing them solely with Aeos coins is technically equivalent to receiving them for free.

Finish the Tutorials

It is strongly advised that you complete all tutorials. Aside from getting Crustle and other rewards, one of the most important benefits of the tutorials is learning the game’s more advanced mechanics. These mechanics aren’t difficult to learn on their own, but if you skip the tutorial, it’s easy to overlook and misunderstand them.

If my teammates can just take out opponents, why are they attacking Rotom? Why did you choose Bouffalant and Ludicolo? Should we go for Zapdos or concentrate on scoring goals? These are just a few of the questions that players who haven’t gone through the tutorials have. Don’t go down the same path as them.

All About Keeping Score

The fact that you can’t directly attack the towers in Pokemon Unite sets it apart from other MOBAs. Instead, you’ll have to first collect points before shooting them on the goals. The goals on the lanes have a counter that shows how many points they can take before being destroyed, but the ones deep inside the enemy’s base do not.

As a result, Pokemon, which acts as stand-ins for heroes, have a scoring system that is not found in other MOBAs. This affects how quickly a Pokemon can place points on a goal. This is something that competitive players who want to be the carry should be aware of. Charizard, Gardevoir, Greninja, and Zeraora are among the top-scoring Pokemon. While this isn’t the be-all and end-all when choosing a carrier, it is a good starting point.

Another aspect of Pokemon Unite’s goal and scoring system that has been significantly altered is how players should prioritize kills. Normally, in a MOBA, enemy heroes should be eliminated first, except for farmers, so that they do not level up and gain an unfair advantage. Wild Pokemon should be prioritized in Pokemon Unite because they are the primary source of points. This does not apply, however, if the opposing team’s Pokemon are significantly interfering with your farming.

Another exception is if they’ve accumulated a large number of points and are attempting to score them on your goals. Unless Rotom or Zapdos have rendered your goals defenseless, it is highly recommended that you eliminate these Pokemon first. You will not only be able to prevent your goals from being destroyed, but you will also receive their points. While they are waiting for respawn, you can take advantage of the situation and score in their goal with the points they have accumulated.

Learn Other Roles

Finally, it is suggested that players learn a variety of roles. While it may appear that attackers take all the credit, they couldn’t have done it without the help of others. If everyone is an attacker, there won’t be an all-rounder who can assist in a variety of situations. The team would also be ripped to shreds if it didn’t have any defense or healing Pokemon.

So, rather than defaulting to an attacker like everyone else, learn how to use Slowbro and Eldegoss. You’ll have a better chance of winning if you follow our advice. In Pokemon Unite, there is a slew of other things to learn. These beginner tips, on the other hand, will be extremely useful not only during your first few days in the game but throughout your entire playthrough.
