Age of Legends, the first of three films based on Robert Jordan’s epic Wheel of Time series, has seen some progress. The first film’s script will be written by Zack Stentz, the co-writer of Thor and X-Men: First Class, according to reports. Stentz is a self-described Jordan fan who is ecstatic to be a part of the highly anticipated project.
“I’ve always been a fan of Robert Jordan’s work, and I’ve always considered his allusions to The Wheel of Time’s beginnings and past to be particularly intriguing. In a statement, Stentz stated, “I’m pleased to be bringing this era Robert Jordan imagined to life.”
According to THR, Age of Legends will take place several millennia before the events of the books, in a futuristic utopia fueled by the One Power, a mystical force shared by men and women. When an unimaginable evil strikes the globe and males wielding the One Power go wild, destroying much of the planet, a tiny group of women gather together under the White Tower and become humanity’s last hope for survival.
While Age of Legends has yet to be allocated a studio partner or distributor, it is expected to complement the impending Wheel of Time TV series, which is presently in production by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios. Rosamund Pike will play Moiraine in Amazon’s Wheel of Time series, which was revealed in 2019.
Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon of iwot productions, as well as Ted Field and Justin Smith of Radar Pictures, will produce Age of Legends.
At this moment, little else is known about the film. However, now that a writer has been appointed, things are certain to heat up.
